Currently

Sitting in a Galena coffee shop sipping upon hot cocoa in an actual cup and wearing new sacrilegious (only sacrilegious because I am not religious myself) brassy cross earrings just bought from the wonderful Jody McGill. Wishing I was in Naperville because of the need to reestablish my social life and also wishing for constant access to internet and more than three channels on the tv. Reading the book World War Z and becoming more and more fascinated of the possiblity of a zombie takeover. Listening to some Lady Gaga and Dido on the ipod and blocking out parents' conversation. Oh the joys of being un enfant unique. Considering playing on the pinball machine and dreaming about life as one giant zombie themed music video. Thriller anyone?

Kidnapping

If I ever have a little boy, I would like him to look exactly like this. 8 year old Arlo Weiner is a fashion designer in the making with an established style at such a young age! I would like to clone this child and insert his DNA in the future generations to ensure a future of good dressing.

So adorable! I could eat him up. Literally. Oh, wait. Huh?

Vampires and Other Creepy Things I Enjoy

Okay, I am always the first person to admit that Twilight is not a piece of literary genius. It also probably does not give the prepubescent girls who read them any realistic model of a relationship either. I read the first book last year or the year before, before the craze. And after I read it I was like "well that was a load of flaming crap" and threw it away. In my opinion, there is not much difference between Twilight and any other sappy teen book that I frequently read in my younger days. Maybe it was the whole "being a vampire is cool!" vibe was what irked me.

But, the only good thing that came out of Twilight was the movie. That movie is freaking amazing. It was one of the most entertaining movies I had seen in a looong time. The acting was so laughable.

I digress. Recently Teen Vogue did a Twilight prom themed spread and I quite liked it. I've always been drawn to the darker elements of things with movies, books, and fashion alike, so this spread made me slightly reconsider my own prom concept. It also made me realize how completely lame the theme "Save the Last Dance" is for our prom. Even though Twilight is a crap book, I'm thinking vampires would be an awesome theme for prom.

This boy reminds me of Luke Kook. I wouldn't mind taking him to prom.
This pink dress = looooove.

Gah! Boys in leather make me swoon.

Now, we move on to the next topic of discussion. I was on fashionindie.com looking for post ideas for this blog and came upon this designer.

Her name is Ann-Sofie Back and I had never heard of her before I spyed her lovely Native American/ Vampire-y fall fashion line. I really do love this line. I'm considering finding a black denim mini skirt to rip and destroy a la the picture on the bottom right. The girl with the tiara on the bottom left also freaks me out, but in a good way of course. I reaaallly like the dream catcher feathers in just about every garment shown and of course just about everything in this collage.
I walk the line of chic and freak. And I like it.
This girl gives a whole new meaning to fierce. She looks like she wants to bite me, while looking fabulous of course.
lovelovelove....These sunglasses are my favorite part. For serious. They are intense! Where can I get them?!

Gaga for Gaga

Some artists want your money so they can buy Range Rovers and diamond bracelets, but I don't care about that kind of stuff. I want your soul" - Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga wants my soul, and she can have if she wants it. I have the greatest appreciation for Lady Gaga. Not only does she take fashion risks no one would touch with a 10 foot pole (latex catsuits or hair bows anyone?). She pulls it off with a flair than no one else can master. What's the most awesome thing is that she can actually sing. I know it's hard to believe. With the Britney Spears' and Ashlee Simpsons of the world, it's really refreshing to hear an artist who can actually sing her music, dance along at the same time, and mix it up when she wants to. My current favorite song of hers is Paparazzi. It has the greatest potential to sound really good stripped down with a guitar or something of that nature. I would recommend going to her Myspace and listening to the live version of Poker Face on the piano. It's so wonderful, I could easily see her on Broadway. Props to Lady Gaga.
She would be AWESOME to go see in concert, but unfortunatly she comes to Chicago two days before I go to Katy Perry at the House of Blues and I highly doubted that my mom would let me stay out two days in one week to see two different concerts. Luckily, I'm thinking that Lady Gaga is the type of artist to be always touring. So, no worries cats and kittens we have not seen the last of this girl. I'm excited to see what else she can come up with. The only critcism I would have is to tell her to stay away from the tanning booth. Sersiously girl, you are verging on looking like an orange that's been in the microwave for far too long.

2nd post today. Props for my senioritis kicking in. I'm so close to the end I can smell it! I will post pictures when I get my prom dress, yo. It's awesome (I've already picked it out). Now everything needs to come together and someone just needs to ask me *cough cough*

Let's Hear it For the Boy

Seriously, nothing makes me go more jelloid than a boy who has a fashion sense. It is my kryptonite and I am rendered helpless by it. So, imagine my surprise when a boy responds intelligently to a facebook status regarding the gloriousness of the Alexander McQ fall 2009 line?

"Its really cool, but its just too eccentric for me. There's a fine line between chic and FREAK. Just kidding. But honestly I'm more of a balenciaga kind of guy; did you see his 2008 spring line? His 2009 spring line is good too, but perhaps a little drab. But overall his spring stuff I am a fan of. I don't know why but I can always understand a designer's spring work a lot better than fall. Perhaps I'm just a spring kind of guy"

Congrats to Jutin, for becoming my new favorite person. Not only do you get points for the line about "chic and freak", but also referencing my favorite collection of all time (which would have to be Balenciaga Spring of '08)

Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Male

Ok, I never saw Borat and I don't really want to.

But his new movie due out in May looks hilariously ingenious. Not only is it amazing that he can still fool people even though he's a major celebrity, but he is managing to crash runways and make an utter fool of himself. and I love it.

Anyone who can sneak into a fashion show in a Velcro suit, cause havoc backstage by ramming into clothing racks, and somehow make it on the runway deserves my $9 spent in theaters. He also sat in the second row of Stella McCartney whilst sucking on tampons. Simply ridiculous.

In Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, apparently the designer was pissed. I wouldn't blame her

and here crashing Jean-Charles de Castlebajac

This was when Bruno was only a minor character on SBC's Ali G Show. Here he is making fun of some American tools on a beach in Daytona. Priceless.

Until then, I can't wait.

Holy Amelia Earhart

Most of my knowledge of Hermes is how to pronounce the name and the horse saddles they make. But, Hermes Fall of 2009 was an obvious homage to 1940's WWII era garments inspired by androgyny and airplane pilots and I really did enjoy this collection. I'm loving the leather pencil skirts and the dress with the fur hood. Also, the thigh high boots on the bottom center would drive Bronte bonkers.

girl crush coco rocha looking spicy as always on the top right.
When I started this post, I had no real idea on who to do it on, so I randomly picked a few designers and came upon Kenzo. Now, I had heard of this brand before, but never really did any investigating on it. Overall, I really like the color scheme. The mini dresses are adorable and I love the bottom left dress with the adornment on the collar. The embroidered coat is also to die for.
as you can see, there were too many to choose from that I liked. Hense the largest collage ever.photos from style.com
On a different note, the weather is really starting to warm up to my delight. Yesterday was a subime 73 and I ventured outside with not much more than a sweatshirt. Soon, I will be jumping on Bronte's trampoline and floating out on the lake on an inflatable matteress in a vintage inspired bathing suit. Can't wait.
